Saint-Hilaire :
longevity, quality, competence, reliability |
|
|
A Canadian firm based in Québec, Saint-Hilaire has been involved
in producing, importing and distributing garments for over three-quarters of a century. Saint-Hilaire owes its longevity to the
combination of its financial reliability, its intimate knowledge of markets, the strength
of its sales force and the confidence of some of the world's largest manufacturers, which
have awarded it exclusive distribution rights for their products in Canada.

|
Its origins :
the hatter's shop |
|
|
Saint-Hilaire developed into the importer and distributor of
garments from a hatter's shop founded by Honoré Saint-Hilaire in Québec City in 1922.
After surviving the Great Depression and the Second World War, Saint-Hilaire brought
together a small group of top craftsmen to provide the North American markets with
fashionable, quality hats.

Growth and
diversification |
|
|
Following the war, Saint-Hilaire entered a period of rapid growth
and diversification as it became involved in importing hats from various countries for the
Canadian market.
The success of this venture helped to
persuade Pierre Saint-Hilaire, Honoré's son, to expand the experience to other articles
of clothing. Thus, in 1964, as its craftsmen continued producing handmade hats, the hatter
also became a manufacturer, importer and distributor.
In 1976, Saint-Hilaire, founded in
Québec City where it initially developed, set up shop in Montreal to keep pace with
changes in the national and international markets.
